Bath still a mecca for Londoners seeking a more affordable home

Bath still a mecca for Londoners seeking a more affordable home

More than ever before, our lifestyle is extremely important.

Not only do we want to love where we live, but we seek to find a place of solace in our busy and chaotic lives, one that gives us access to the leisure activities we enjoy and where we will be happy to make our home.  Our desire to own our own home hasn’t diminished, but property prices can make the dream seem like an impossible one.

According to a recent study by Hamptons International, Londoners purchased in excess of 30,000 homes outside the capital in the first half of the year.  Aneisha Beveridge, research analyst at Hamptons, stated: “With affordability stretched, more Londoners are moving out of the capital to find their new home. More people are making a bigger move and buying a larger home sooner to avoid having to pay stamp duty on additional moves as they trade up.”

At The Apartment Company we have been attracting Londoners to our vivacious city of Bath for a number of years, thanks mainly to our targeted marketing.  As members of the Guild of Property Professionals we are able to tap into additional resources to allow us to provide an enhanced service to market our properties to a wider market.

We’re often invited to present a collection of our properties at exhibitions held regularly at The Guild’s London office in Park Lane, which gives us the ability to directly present our properties to potential buyers from London and overseas. We can also offer specific advice on locations, giving buyers a more in-depth understanding of what their money will buy them in Bath.

It’s no wonder that Bath appeals to this market; our city works at a different pace of life than the capital, but retains a cosmopolitan feel due to its wealth of independent boutiques, and trendy bars and restaurants.  There is a huge array of green spaces, the re-imagining of the river, the undeniable allure of the Georgian architecture, as well as an abundance of cultural and leisure activities all within 1 hour and 30 minutes’ commute to central London.

It’s not just the lifestyle that appeals, but the quality of apartments available, especially the space that they provide compared to their London counterparts.  According to the Hamptons study, the average price paid by a Londoner for a property outside the capital is £424,620, which will buy them a small two-bedroom apartment over a shop.

Compare this with Bath, where they can become the proud owner of a historic Grade II listed apartment providing them with around 1000 sq ft of space blessed with period features, high-quality finishes, beautiful décor and incredible views across the city.  Bath may provide Londoners with a more affordable property solution than London, but we know the appeal of our city runs deeper than that.

When you place your apartment in the hands of The Apartment Company you tap into the expertise of a team who know everything about our niche – the apartment market.  We never underestimate the trust you place in us, which is why we regularly review the marketing we undertake for your property to ensure we reach new markets and refresh the minds of those actively seeking an apartment in Bath.

Let us open the door of your apartment to a world of potential buyers.
